Genographic: Globe of the Human Journey

The Overview:
As an update to the Genographic Project website, the globe focuses on the events that have affected how humans have historically moved about the world.

The Site:
Users can rotate a Flash-based 3D globe to explore the key events in human history over the past 7,000 years—wars, invasions, pandemics, and the spread of religion and culture—that have led to the interaction and disappearance of populations.  Each of the points on the globe opens onto an essay about the event, with topic-specific maps, photos,  and illustrations.

An adjustable timeline lets users narrow in on the time periods of most interest to them.
