We at Wildflower Interactive are a talented consortium of some of the industry’s most experienced producers, developers, designers, and writers. Our work has claimed top honors from nearly every major interactive competition and has been featured in leading publications. Below are some key team members who could be working on your next project.
Paula Willard
Executive Producer
Since 1996, including over a decade at National Geographic and more recently in studio settings, Paula has produced dozens of high-profile, award-winning projects. Her projects have won three Webbys, a CODiE award, and have been highlighted in major publications, such as Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, New York Times, and Communication Arts. She earned a BA in Ancient Studies and Visual Arts from the University of Maryland and did graduate studies in Classical and Near Eastern Art and Archaeology at the University of Minnesota.
Bart Marable
Designer/Creative Director
Bart has been telling interactive stories for nearly 20 years. He has designed dozens of award-winning projects for clients such as National Geographic, the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, Lucasfilm, and the J. Paul Getty Museum. His work has been honored with awards from the Webbys, Communication Arts, ID Magazine, and Museums and the Web. Bart is a frequent speaker and panelist on interactive storytelling, and he has also served as a visiting faculty member at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies. He is the author of numerous papers and articles on interactive storytelling and interpretive design. He holds a master’s degree in history from Louisiana State University.
Tyler Ham
Senior Developer
Tyler has been developing databases and web applications for over seven years. His web experience ranges from creating static, standards-compliant, accessible web sites to architecting and implementing fully dynamic, database-driven web applications. He keeps up to date with the latest trends and developments in web technologies such as XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash, and many server-side platforms. Tyler has worked in education environments such as the UTeach Science program at The University of Texas at Austin and more recently in the studio environments of Terra Incognita Productions, Thamtech, and Wildflower Interactive. Tyler earned a BA in Mathematics from The University of Texas at Austin.
Michelle Andrews
Senior Producer
Michelle has worked in documentary film production at Northern Light Productions with such clients as the History Channel, the Smithsonian Institution, PBS, and the National Park Service. She has more recently worked as an interactive content producer and writer, and has gained experience in the social networking-based marketing of independent films. Michelle has a MFA in Film Production from Boston University.
Brian Handwerk
Senior Writer/Researcher
Brian is a former National Geographic producer, a regular correspondent for National Geographic News, and the New York Times Syndicate distributes his work. With more than a decade of experience writing and editing award-winning interactive web projects, he’s written National Geographic’s award-winning Genographic Project and Safe Drinking Water is Essential for the National Academy of Sciences.
Angela Pan Wong
Senior Designer/Developer
Angela has over six years of design experience and has worked as the lead web designer for The University of Texas at Austin's College of Natural Sciences, designing the interface and user-experience for the College's web presence. At Terra Incognita Productions she supported the studio's various media needs, such as archival research, image processing, illustration, site wireframing, design, and CSS authoring. Angela earned a BFA in Design from The University of Texas at Austin.
Linda Rinkinen
Quality Assurance
After 30 years at National Geographic, including 13 years as manager and then director of Quality Assurance and Production for nationalgeographic.com, Linda has extensive experience in the detailed technical and editorial testing needed to assure highest quality websites. Her prior experience includes photo editing and copy editing.
Shannon Sullivan
Senior Producer/Education Director
Shannon is a former journalism teacher and special educator who creates interactive content for educational networks and facilitates online learning communities. Her work as a producer of educational content for National Geographic's site for teachers and parents received national acclaim, and earned a Webby Award. As owner of Meltdown Free Media, she blogs tips for parents and teachers at www.biggerboxofcrayons.com and advocates for early intervention, universal design for learning, and accessible media. Shannon holds two masters degrees—one in Technology, Innovation, and Education from Harvard University and another in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston College. Recent projects include PBS News Hour, The Partnership for 21st Century Skills, and the Arlington County, Virginia, Parent/Infant Education Program.
